Launchpad for your Azure Cloud Learning

Hello! My name is Anushka Jain and I’m currently pursuing Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). My major area of interest is learning and discovering the modern technologies. After discovering various technologies, I found a great interest in the area of Cloud Computing and Azure Cloud. I learnt about Cloud by reading and learning it online and then thought of writing those blogs for the other people who may find it a bit strenuous. For this, I would like to share my blogs with everyone.

Azure Cloud computing is a new way of sharing infrastructure. It is the delivery of computing resources over the internet. It offers cost savings, scalability, high performance, economies of scale, and more.

There are several characteristics that offer a wide variety of transformative opportunities like lower IT costs, improved agility and time-to-value, easy scalability, elasticity and cost-effectivenessfor businesses and individuals alike, which we have discussed earlier in the section Benefits of Cloud Computing. To gain some additional context, do visit these links below:

Besides this, there is a wide range of services offered by Azure Cloud Computing that can be categorized into three basic types:

  • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). IaaS provides users access to raw computing resources such processing power, data storage capacity, and networking, in the context of a secure data center.

  • Platform as a Service (PaaS). Geared towards software development teams, PaaS offerings provide computing and storage infrastructure and also a development platform layer, with components such as web servers, database management systems, and software development kits (SDKs) for various programming languages.

  • Software as a Service (SaaS). SaaS providers offer application-level services tailored to a wide variety of business needs, such as customer relationship management (CRM), marketing automation, or business analytics.

We also discussed about the Azure cloud models. There are three different ways to deploy cloud services: on a public cloud, private cloud or hybrid cloud through which Azure offer the right solution for our needs…

The Public Cloud allows systems and services to be easily accessible to the general public. Public cloud may be less secure because of its openness.

The Private Cloud allows systems and services to be accessible within an organization. It is more secured because of its private nature.

The Community Cloud allows systems and services to be accessible by a group of organizations.

The Hybrid Cloud is a mixture of public and private cloud, in which the critical activities are performed using private cloud while the non-critical activities are performed using public cloud.

Apart from this, we also discussed about the Azure tenants and Subscriptions:

Azure tenant is a directory that allows an administrator to set policies on the user within the organization and the apps that the organization owns to meet their security requirements.

Whereas, an Azure subscription is a logical container into which Azure can serve any number of resources (Virtual Machines, Web Applications, Storage Accounts, etc.) that can be deployed. Basically, an object that represents a "folder" that you can put resources in.

In short, Azure Cloud offer a variety of opportunities to businesses, independent developers, researchers, educators, and students. By understanding the different services, models, and benefits offered by Azure, users can make informed decisions about how to best take advantage of its offerings.
