Azure Service Model: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

Infrastructure as a Service is a cloud computing service where users can run any operating system or applications on-demand, & over pay-as-you-go basis over the Internet. This lets the users afford the cost and complexity of buying and managing physical servers and datacenter infrastructure.

IaaS enables the end users to flexibly scale up or scale down, depending on the demand and provides upright guarantee on its services. This service is generally used by system administrators and network architects.

Azure IaaS Services

Besides all of the above scenarios, IaaS provides the users with fundamental access over resources such as physical machines, virtual machines, virtual storage, etc. which are being explained below:

  • Networking: It provides networking services such as routers, switches, and bridges for the VM’s so that the provisioned infrastructure can be accessed in an efficient manner.

  • Storage: It provides back-end storage for storing files.

  • Compute: This service provides the implications of different servers, virtual CPU’s and virtual main memory that Azure can offer to the end-users.

  • Load Balancers: This service provides the efficient distribution of network or application traffic across multiple servers.

Advantages of IaaS

There are the following advantages of Azure IaaS-

  • Increased Scalability and Elasticity: Scalability is the ability to handle the increasing workload by increasing the proportion amount of resource capacity. By the use of scalability, the architecture provides on-demand resources if the traffic is raising the requirement. Whereas, Elasticity is the ability to provide concept of placing an order for or deactivating a large amount of resource capacity dynamically.

  • Cost Effective: IaaS is the most affordable option for businesses as it eliminates the cost of infrastructure. There is no need to purchase hardware as well as other networking resources. As IaaS follows pay-as-you-go pricing scheme, the users must spend only for what they use.

  • Increased Security: Additional advantages of Azure IaaS include intensive information security measures, such as end-to-end encryption and encryption at rest for private and confidential data. This means our business may be getting a higher level of security and protection than any other hosting onsite infrastructure.

  • Focus on Business Growth: By using IaaS, companies are able to spend more time growing their business rather than making smaller technology decisions. They can focus on developing their applications and solutions with more time and resources.

  • Improved Business Continuity: With Azure IaaS, we need not worry because it uses up-to-date technology that easily scales up or scales down to meet our business’ needs. As infrastructure is managed by Azure service, we will be able to focus on other works too. These benefits of IaaS let companies scale as they grow or downsize, which helps companies in any time of change. If a company grows in size, the IaaS services can also grow as the company needs.

Implementation of Azure IaaS

Azure IaaS users enjoy many IaaS services as mentioned above. IaaS has lots of resources such as network, server, storage, virtualization, so it depends upon the customer to choose its resources wisely and as per need. Apart from the management of the infrastructures, it provides billing management too, where the user is billed as per the services are required.

  • Testing and Development: Nowadays, companies don’t want to spend much of their energy to maintain an online presence, so they subscribe to Azure IaaS for hosting as a viable alternative. IaaS lets the user with faster and easy set up. This environment allows for bringing new applications to market quicker.

  • Web Applications: Azure IaaS gives sufficient support for web storage and data utilization with its 24/7 accessible and flexible options for its users.

  • Backup and Recovery: Azure IaaS helps the users to efficiently manage and handle the unpredictable complexity of storage needs. As a result, it simplifies the user’s need for backup, storage and recovery of data.

  • Big-data Analysis: Big data is a technological trend that is growing across many industries. It helps solve complex problems and provides the processing power to economically mine large data sets.

Quick Catchups

  • Azure IaaS is the most flexible cloud computing model which provides instant access to computing, storage, and network solutions to its users.

  • IaaS is the real data solution for large and small organizations.

  • It has many benefits for businesses like reduction in infrastructure costs by spending less on maintenance and software upgrades.

  • It provides cloud data connectivity and storage which means organizations can access their information from anywhere.

  • Azure IaaS is the best solution to provide you with maximum elasticity and reliability when it comes to hosting custom-built apps, as well as a providing a general data center for data storage.
